When I discuss retirement plans with friends, a troubling number of them have one thing in common: They haven’t made any investments.
This isn’t surprising. Americans are still reeling from the recession, and distrust of the stock market is thick. According to Gallup, only 37% of Americans under 35 own stocks, even though many of them did before the 2008 market crash. Once you’ve been hurt, it’s hard to trust again.
