The September 23 edition of Forbes cover page highlights “Reinventing America” and notes their “10-Year Forecast – Where the Growth Will Be”.
I realize that predictions are not set in stone, and a regional forecast should not be recognized as an expectation of what will simply appear in your backyard.
That being said, the map shown in the “America’s Next Decade” article by Joel Kotkin and Mark Schill offers the concept of America as 7 states and 3 quasi-independent city states. The Third Coast which includes southern Louisiana is predicted to have a 15.5% job growth — the greatest percentage nationwide between 2013 and 2023.
Interestingly, the mix of key industries is expected to shift somewhat from 2013 and 2023. Entergy, Trade and Health care remain key though the entire period. However the 2013 importance of Chemicals and Manufacturing diminish with Business Services emerging by 2023.
Sure, we all expect change; but be cognizant of changes in your particular market sector and what you must do to plan for those changes.
